Step 2: Blend the Mangoes

  • Blend the mango chunks until you achieve a smooth puree. Ensure there are no lumps or fibers remaining. If desired, you can strain the puree to remove any fibrous bits.

Step 3: Sweeten the Mango Puree

  • Now take a pan and add 4 glass water and 1 kilogram sugar.North Indian Kitchen
  • Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness according to your preference. Remember that freezing dulls the sweetness, so it’s okay if the puree tastes a bit sweeter than desired.

Step 4: Mix in the Yogurt and Lime Juice

  • After the mixture cools down add 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • Afterwards pour 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
  • Add 500 ml water in mango syrup.

Step 5: Fill the Popsicle Molds

  • Last but not the least carefully pour the mango mixture into the popsicle molds, leaving a small gap at the top to allow for expansion. If your molds don’t come with built-in sticks, insert popsicle sticks into the molds.

Step 6: Freeze the Popsicles

  • Place the popsicle molds in the freezer and let them freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or until completely solid. For best results, leave them overnight.

Step 7: Unmold and Enjoy!

  • Once the popsicles are fully frozen, remove the molds from the freezer. If the popsicles don’t easily slide out, you can briefly run the molds under warm water to loosen them. Gently pull on the popsicle sticks to unmold the mango popsicles.

Step 8: Serve and Store

  • Serve the mango popsicles immediately and enjoy their tropical goodness. If you have any leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container or wrap them individually in plastic wrap for future enjoyment.

Expert Tips

Choose Ripe and Sweet Mangoes

Select ripe mangoes for the best flavor. Look for mangoes that are fragrant and slightly soft to the touch. Ripe mangoes will yield a sweeter and more flavorful puree for your popsicles.

Experiment with Mango Varieties

There are many varieties of mangoes available, each with its own unique flavor profile. Consider trying different mango varieties to discover your favorite for popsicles. Alphonso, Ataulfo, and Kent mangoes are known for their exceptional sweetness and are excellent choices.

Adjust Sugar and Lime Juice Levels

Taste your mango puree before freezing and adjust the sugar and lime juice levels accordingly. Remember that freezing dulls the sweetness, so it’s better to have a slightly sweeter puree than one that tastes bland when frozen.

Add Texture with Mango Chunks

For an extra burst of texture and flavor, reserve some mango chunks and add them to the popsicle molds along with the puree. This will create delicious mango bits to bite into while enjoying the popsicles.

Layer Different Flavors

Get creative by layering different flavors in your popsicles. You can make a two-tone popsicle by pouring a layer of mango puree into the molds, freezing it partially, and then adding a layer of coconut milk or yogurt. Repeat the process to create visually appealing and tasty layers.

Garnish with Fresh Mint or Coconut Flakes

Before freezing your popsicles, consider adding a touch of freshness and visual appeal by sprinkling some freshly chopped mint leaves or coconut flakes on top. This simple addition adds a pop of color and extra flavor.

Use High-Quality Popsicle Molds

Invest in good quality popsicle molds that are easy to use and have airtight seals. This will ensure that your popsicles freeze evenly and have a smooth texture. Silicone molds are particularly convenient as they allow for easy removal of the popsicles.

Run Warm Water over the Molds

If your popsicles are difficult to unmold, run the molds under warm water for a few seconds. This will help loosen the popsicles, making them easier to remove without compromising their shape.

Customize with Add-ins

Feel free to experiment and add your favorite ingredients to the mango popsicles. You can mix in diced strawberries, toasted coconut flakes, or even a hint of chili powder for a spicy kick. Let your creativity shine and customize the popsicles to suit your taste preferences.

Store Properly

If you have any leftover popsicles, store them in an airtight container or individually wrap them in plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn and maintain their freshness. Enjoy them within a few weeks for the best taste and texture.

FAQs

Q: Can I use frozen mangoes instead of fresh ones?

A: Yes, you can use frozen mangoes if fresh ones are not available. Thaw the frozen mangoes before blending them to create the puree for your popsicles. Frozen mangoes may be slightly softer in texture, but they will still yield delicious popsicles.

Q: Can I substitute the yogurt with another ingredient?

A: Absolutely! If you prefer a dairy-free version or simply want to explore different flavors, you can substitute the yogurt with coconut milk, almond milk, or any other non-dairy milk of your choice. This substitution will give the popsicles a creamy and luscious texture.

Q: Can I reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe?

A: Yes, you can adjust the amount of sugar according to your taste preferences. Start with the suggested amount and taste the mango puree before freezing. If you find it too sweet, you can reduce the sugar or omit it altogether if the mangoes are naturally sweet. Keep in mind that a little extra sweetness is recommended, as freezing tends to dull the flavors.

Q: How long do the popsicles take to freeze?

Q: Can I use popsicle molds without sticks?

A: Yes, you can use molds without sticks and insert the sticks halfway through the freezing process. After pouring the mango mixture into the molds, place them in the freezer for about an hour. Then insert the popsicle sticks into the semi-frozen mixture, ensuring they stand upright. This will help the sticks stay in place as the popsicles freeze.

Q: How long can I store the popsicles?

A: The popsicles can be stored in an airtight container or individually wrapped in plastic wrap for up to a few weeks. However, for the best taste and texture, it’s recommended to consume them within the first week of freezing.
